Over

Another week gone.

For some strange reason, I’ve been having really odd sleep sessions this week! Last night - again - I had an awesome sleep, woke up completely refreshed and bright. Yet the night before, I slept for roughly the same amount of time, but I felt like I’d been awake all night! And couldn’t wait to get back to bed…

All I know is I’m looking forward to a sleep in tomorrow morning :P

This has been a busy week. A week of development, a week of solid website coding, or graphic design and of frustration! (Though they usually go hand in hand anyway).

Strangely, my Internet changeover seems to have semi taken place.

I awoke this morning to see I was uploading data at ~39kb/s. Usually I can only upload at about 10 or 12kb/s tops! Yet my download speed is still limited to 50kb/s. Plugged the new router in and set it up this afternoon, but the new plan isn’t active yet - even though I seem to be uploading at the new rate, even with the old modem. Quite strange. I guess the line is sorted by Telstra, but waiting for TPG to finalise…?

It’s a big weekend of Motorsport with the 24 hours of Spa coming up.. can’t wait for this one - got the live timing ready to go!

  del.icio.us this!

Hope your good sleep continues!! Always hate the sleepy feeling even after you’ve been asleep for ages! :P no sleep-ins for me this weekend, again :P well not tomorrow any way, I so miss them now. All that training you gave me ages ago trying to get me to stop sleeping so much has worked and I can’t seem to sleep in for too long when I get the chance! :P

Hope your net is all sorted properly soon hun! :D

Can’t sleep in - Comic Con tomorrow: ALL DAY! Yay! I tore a calf muscle a coupla weeks ago, so it’ll be a bit painful, but I’ve got a shooting stick umbrella I take with me I’ll use as a cane - I usually go dressed up on Saturdays as No. 6 from “The Prisoner”. Wish you, and your Kate, were here - you’d have a ball!

ScottyB - I hope you get out here for the Con someday - it would’ve been fun to let you loose there and watch you run around all googly-eyed with stupifaction!

ComicCon was a bit more sedate for me than usual, as I spent a lot of time limping from sit to sit, but still quite fun. The floor is like a sixth of mile long, so I hadda go easy – too much back and forth, and all of sudden I’ve walked ten miles. My butt is sore, that’s for sure – they don’t hardly have a soft chair in that place! I got a nice smile from Elvira, the campy horror queen, when I tipped my hat; met Ernie Hudson, the black guy from “Ghostbusters”; got to chat with Ray Bradbury, the sc-fi god – I’ve been running across him at bookstores and conventions for more than thirty years now! Met my high-school pal there – he’s my best friend from forever ago, and he ‘s always there, too, all the way from Arizona, and we tramped about a bit, talking old movies with a another friend of his. I always stay late for the Masquerade, but out behind the green room where they take the official portraits – up close and fascinating. Believe it or not, I didn’t buy but one damn thing for myself this year, a calendar of pin-ups signed by Olivia, the Bettie Page painter. Vavoom! There were some tempting miniatures and thousands of comics, but I passed on it all – gotta save some dough for other issues in life this year. I did buy my son the latest Arsenic Lullaby and Penny Arcade, but that’s it.

I wear a black single-breasted coat with white piping along the edges and the collar, over a dark blue mock turtleneck, tan pants, black deck shoes with white trim along the bottom; a multi-colored shooting-stick umbrella; (boy, did that come in handy – I needed a cane!) and a genuine straw skimmer hat. (Some people call them a boater, but that’s a different kind of hat) I had been wearing a recent Italian straw skimmer, the only new ones made these days except for bespoke tailors in England, but a couple of years ago I ran across a mint condition skimmer from the late 1930’s made in Baltimore – a genuine find! It has a more modern band on it, but it was a steal at $65.00 because it had been custom made for some guy with a narrow head – just like mine! It fits perfect! If you do a search for “The Prisoner” TV show under Google images, there should be plenty of pic of what I was aiming at. There was actually a shot of me on Flickr from last year’s con, but I couldn’t find it to send you a link. If I catch one I’ll send it to you. Without bragging in any way, I’m pretty damn good, and many people have said I should go in the Masquerade rather than just walking the convention floor, but that’s not my style. I figure I was stopped by at least 20 people for pictures, and often posed with them – a few years ago five Japanese con-goers posed next to me in turn! HeHe! This year, at the backstage area for the formal Masquerade, two married pros from England told me “the Prisoner” was the “Citizen Kane” of British television, while having me pose in a chair with cutie-pie wife in my lap!

Ah, Scotty - see ya here someday, soon, I hope.

    Sounds completely awesome…

I’ve been seeing some good coverage this year from the CC.. people taking cameras in and documenting heaps of it. Saw the initial trailer for Iron Man.. **** that looks soooo good. Just when I thought Iron Man couldn’t get any better, he goes and breaks the sound barrier. Awesome.

Dunno how you managed not to spend a cent in there.. I’d be buying the miniatures like crazy. One of all my favourite Marvel characters… hehe..

You’ll have to try and find that image, V! Very cool haha..

Thanks for the summary mate, really appreciate it!

Hope to get over one year.. really do!
